Farside Africa is TTA and ATOL bonded, so you can relax in the knowledge that your money is fully protected when you book with us. If you do book directly with Africa then your money won’t be protected so it’s a big risk to take.
At Farside Africa we take our responsibility to reduce our environmental impact seriously and our love of Africa is at the heart of everything we do. We offset our long-distance flights by paying monthly to Ecolgi who plant trees on our behalf to offset our carbon footprint. The lodges we use in Africa provide employment to people from the local area who in turn support their extended family with their income in the travel industry.
Our lodges continue their commitment to sustainability by buying locally sourced products wherever possible and switching to renewable energy for their power, including electric vehicles and boats.
At Farside, we give all our clients reusable water bottles to help stop the use of single use plastic bottles and fully support the move to ban plastic bags across many African countries.
You can also help by, for example, opting to drink filtered rather than bottled water where possible, buying locally made souvenirs and if you have space in your bag you can take out items for the local schools and clinics. Many lodges regularly donate to local community and conservation projects to build and maintain schools, clinics and hospitals and help people to live in harmony with the wildlife around them.
There is still plenty of work to be done but by changing small things in our lives we can all help to look forward to a sustainable future and Farside and the safari industry as a whole is doing their bit too.
My love of Africa started over 30 years ago and I have been exploring this amazing continent ever since. From my early days of backpacking and working in lodges, then driving through Africa to deliver a Landrover for Save the Rhino International, to founding Farside Africa in 1998.
Africa has never failed to inspire me and I think of it as my second home. I have had the pleasure of sharing this beautiful, awe-inspiring continent with my clients for over twenty years and still get elated hearing their wonderful feedback, special memories and amazing adventures on their return. I will never tire of introducing people to the beauty of Africa.
