Linyanti, Kwando & Selinda Reserves

Linyanti, Kwando & Selinda Reserves image

The Linyanti, Kwando and Selinda Reserves are large, unfenced private reserves to the west of Chobe and the Linyanti and Chobe rivers form the border with Namibia.

In the dry months of June to October, this is where much of Chobe's spectacular wildlife is found, including huge concentrations of migratory species such as zebra and elephant, drawn to the permanent water of the Kwando-Linyanti river system. Being outside the national parks, walking safaris and night drives are both permitted, as well as off-road driving – giving you great game viewing opportunities.

Did you know?

  • The reserves are shared between a small number of private camps and lodges, offering a more remote, private safari than in the busier national parks.
  • Kwando is a great area to follow wild dogs on their hunts as the vehicles are reinforced for the rough terrain and the fast chase.
  • The Selinda spillway links the Okavango and Linyanti river systems.
  • With the mixture of mopane woodland, open plains, riverine forest, marches and river front there is a great diversity of game.
  • There are plenty of predators including lion, leopard cheetah and wild dog.
