Mozambique : Southern Coast
White Pearl Resort is a chic, modern hideaway on a magnificent private white sandy beach, in Southern Mozambique, south of Maputo. Both the 22 stilted suites, each with their own private pool, and the main restaurant, bar and pool area have stunning ocean views. The resort is surrounded by natural beauty, from the Indian Ocean to the east and the Maputo Elephant Reserve to the west, and offers some of the finest diving in Mozambique. You can also enjoy snorkelling, kayaking, swimming with dolphins, walks along the beach and horse-riding. Between November and March you may see turtles hatching on the beach.
The dunes of the Santa Maria Peninsula in Southern Mozambique are part of a wild and untouched stretch of coastline overlooking the channel between the mainland and Inhaca Island. Nestled among the dune forests is Machangulo Beach Lodge, a welcoming beach retreat with eight private luxury chalets. With long beaches and various activities, it is a wonderful getaway for all ages. Each chalet has an en-suite bathroom, air-conditioning, mosquito nets and a private deck. Five of them enjoy a breathtaking view of the ocean and Inhaca Island, and the other three chalets are intimately situated amongst the pristine Mozambique dune forest. All the chalets are connected by snaking walkways and staircases to the main buildings and the beach. Activities include guided offshore and channel fishing, rock and surf fishing, snorkelling in the Inhaca Marine Reserve or on the ledge in front of the lodge, scuba diving, spear fishing, seasonal whale watching (June to November), turtle nesting activities (late Spring), kids rock pool exploration and plenty of birds to watch and enjoy.
