Malawi : Satemwa Tea Estates

Located in the Shire Highlands of southern Malawi Satemwa is one of the oldest tea estates in Malawi founded by a Scottish emigrant and passed down generations. With incredible views of Mount Mulanje and the Shire Valley it is has a very old world British colonial feel. The lush tea fields provide a stunning backdrop to the area and of course here you can take a tour of the tea factory and taste the teas they produce. You can also hire mountain bikes to explore the area with exceptional landscapes and bird life it is a great place to escape unwind and relax.

Huntingdon House

Huntingdon house is set in the stunning tea estates in Satemwa, nestled in beautifully tended gardens it has a very old colonial feel. The house was the original for the tea estate and has been converted into a guesthouse with just 5 huge rooms all with en-suite bathrooms with baths and showers. It is very relaxing here, you can read in the library stroll through the flower gardens, visit the tea estate to have a tea tasting or simply enjoy afternoon tea and cakes or even a tea infused cocktail! It is a great place to relax between national parks or use as a base to climb Mount Mulanje or hike some of the surrounding mountains.
