Luxury River Boat, Botswana
The Zambezi Queen is an elegant new luxury riverboat launching on Botswana and Namibia’s Chobe River in November 2009. Offering a new and distinctive luxury game viewing experience on both land and water, the 45-metre luxury riverboat has 14 stylish suites and will be operating varied two- and three-night safaris along the banks of the world famous Chobe National Park which boasts one of the densest populations of wildlife in Africa with over 120,000 elephants and over 400 species of bird.
The riverboat has 10 suites and four Master Suites, all with en-suite showers and private balconies. Starting just downriver from the unique point where four African countries - Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe - meet, it cruises along the banks of the Chobe stopping for game viewing from smaller private boats, birdwatching, tiger and bream fishing (in season) and venturing onto land for a 4x4 game drive or a village visit. Each day ends with fine dining in the third level restaurant surrounded by the beauty and peace of the African bush, and there is also a lounge, bar, reading room and deck with a pool for relaxing afternoons.
Chobe National Park is renowned for its abundant wildlife and as well as elephants and birds, you may also see prides of leopard and lion, huge groups of buffalo, waterbuck, roan, eland, sable and giraffe, and hippo and crocodiles in the river itself. The Zambezi Queen departures are on Mondays (2 nights), Wednesdays (2 nights) and Fridays (3 nights) each week.
