Kenya : Go Wild Horse Safaris

At Go Wild you can enjoy the thrill of riding horses through some of Kenya's most picturesque landscapes on a 5 day itinerary. There are 6 spacious dome tents in camp set up according to game movement, weather conditions and the view. With sturdy camp beds and cosy sleeping bags the emphasis is on comfort rather than luxury. Each tent has its own wash basin with kerosene or solar lighting. There will be a drop toilet and bucket shower with hot water in a separate tent. You can enjoy meals under the stars or in the mess tent using the campsite as a permanent base for your horse treks, game drives and walks.

Day 1

You will arrive at Olepangi Farm driving through the beautiful Kikuyu Highlands in time for lunch. In the afternoon you can relax and explore the ranch and enjoy a short ride so you can become accustomed to your horse and get a feeling for the area. After sundowners you will enjoy dinner down on the river over an open fire.

Day 2

After breakfast you will ride to the Ole Naishu Ranch and the Lollodiga Hills enjoying the scenery and the wildlife such as giraffe, buffalo and elephant. Arriving in the afternoon at camp you will have time to settle in before sundowners and a bush dinner over a campfire.

Day 3 & 4

In the mornings you will be woken just before dawn with hot coffee or tea and light breakfast before enjoying a full morning of horse riding over the 49,000 acre private game reserve, returning to camp for a break in the heat of the day for lunch and a rest. This time is good opportunity to chat with the guides and take photographs of the surroundings when the pace is a little slower, with prolific numbers of birds in the area and no fences there is always plenty of wildlife to see around camp. There is the option to include game drives on the trip for those who don't ride or who are a little saddle sore. Sundowners are always a treat with the guides taking you to areas with spectacular views.

Day 5

For your last ride you will go through a different area of the country with large open plains dotted with cedar trees looking for larger game. You will arrive back at Olepangi farm in time for lunch where you can relax and enjoy the activities offered there such as archery and croquet as your trip comes to an end. There is an option to extend your trip by adding extra nights on at the end at the farm.
